Firstly thanks to all of you have accepted our invitation.

Just one month before your arrival, we are working all hands on deck to ensure that your visit is the best and that the programme is explosive!

The only thing we can’t control is the weather. So remember your swimming kit and your woolly jumpers! Exotic!

A few reminders:

To make sure your booking is confirmed, if you haven’t already done so, and since the final date has passed, we invite you to send your payment as soon as possible, otherwise we may not be able to guarantee your place. The price quoted includes accommodation, food cooked for us, the encontro tee-shirt, transport for the gig on Saturday, workshops, concert, swimming pool and birdsong. You just need your beer money and a couple of quid for sending your postcards!

Remember to let us know when, how and where you plan to arrive so we can ensure someone is there to welcome you. If you’re arriving by car, there are two options: check out this link (D) and find your way to the chateau; or set up a time with us to meet you in the nearest supermarket car park.

You will remember that our Thursday evening is entitled ‘When Batala meets Batala.’ We’ve been working long and hard on our little sketch, and our only comfort has been thinking that you too are working as hard on your sketch. So when the master of ceremonies announces Batala Lancaster, Batala Bermo …. What are we going to see?

Our Friday evening will begin with a buffet aperitif with the local great and the good, and a brief speech for them from our President. Batala Massif will set out a few local specialities for your delectation and delight: St Nectaire cheese, local smoked ham, smoked sausage. Since our encontro will be, thanks to you, international, we thought it might be nice if you could bring along any contributions, perhaps more exotic – something to broaden the horizons of the Auvergnats. So, if you have a little space in your luggage, think about bringing along something local – lamb in mint sauce, lava bread, Gouda …

We won’t have the benefit of a full moon, so campers remember your torch along with your tent, sleeping bag etc. If you’ve booked a place in the chateau, then you’ll have a bed, sheets and blankets. You’ll need a towel though!

On your arrival, you’ll be met by your host, one of the members of Batala Massif, and they will be your first point of contact during the weekend. We are also finishing off a programme for each of you, with all the information we think you’ll need.

There will be moments to chill out, perhaps around the camp fire, and it’s just then that the desire to pull out your guitar, didge, harpoon, flute, accordion etc. will hit you. So think about bringing your instruments with you, so that when the moment arrives and the muse comes over you, you’ve got what you need to hand.

While taking shots for us of the encontro, he will also be able to do a limited number of his outstanding portrait sessions exclusively for Batala at the exceptional price of 100€. Tout d’abord merci à tous ceux qui ont répondu positivement à notre invitation. A un mois de votre venue, nous mettons tout en œuvre pour que votre séjour se déroule le mieux possible et le programme va être explosif !

La seule chose que nous ne maîtrisons pas, c’est la météo. Alors pensez aux maillots de bain et aux vestes polaires ! Exotique !

Quelques rappels :

Afin de valider votre inscription, nous vous invitons à nous faire parvenir le règlement de votre séjour si vous ne l’avez pas déjà fait. Ce prix correspond à votre pension complète : les pieds sous la table et le lit douillet ou place au camping, le tee shirt de l’encontro, les navettes et transports lors des représentations, les animations sur le site, l’accès à la piscine et le chant des oiseaux ! Seules les consommations à la buvette seront à votre charge.

Pensez aussi à nous avertir des heures de vos arrivées si ce n’est pas déjà fait (oui ca commence à être répétitif !) Pour ceux qui arrivent en voiture, vous avez deux options : chercher le château directement, voici le lien (D) ou établir un rendez-vous avec nous au parking d’Ecomarché a 5 minutes du château.

Notre soirée du vendredi débutera par un apéritif dînatoire. Nous vous ferons goûter notre St Nectaire, notre saucisson, notre jambon de pays et comme, grâce à votre venue, notre rassemblement sera international, il serait bien de proposer des mets plus… exotiques… Alors si vous avez encore un peu de place dans vos bagages, merci d’amener des denrées typiques comme le gigot à la menthe anglais ou le gouda néerlandais …. Histoire d’élargir l’horizon auvergnat.

Nous n’aurons pas la chance de bénéficier de l’éclairage de la lune et nous précisons particulièrement aux campeurs de se munir de lampes de poches et bien sûr le matériel de camping : tentes, duvets, tapis de sol.

Dans le château, sont fournis les draps et couvertures, mais pas les serviettes de toilettes.

Dés votre arrivée sur le site, votre référent Massif vous distribuera un petit document avec toutes les infos utiles et le programme de l’encontro.

Il y aura des moments de détente aussi, peut-être autour du feu de camp, avec l’envie de sortir la guitare, le didjeridu ou autre, alors pensez à amener ce qu’il vous faut.

Dernier point : nous bataillons depuis quelques temps sur notre « sketche », ça nous demande du temps et de l’énergie. Notre seul réconfort, c’est de penser que vous aussi, vous galérez pour préparer une présentation de votre groupe, prévue le jeudi soir… Quand le maître de cérémonies vous annoncera, qu’allez-vous partager avec nous ?

Photographe professionnel Jeremy Lawrence (certains d’entre vous le connais déjà) sera avec nous pendant tout le week-end. Voir ses photos ici www.futtfuttfuttphotography.com. En plus de prendre les photos de l’encontro pour nous, il pourrait vous proposer un nombre limité de ses séances insolites renommées de portrait individuels, une exclusivité pour Batala au prix exceptionnel de 100€. Hi!

Thanks for dropping by for a look at the latest information about Rencontres Volcaniques in the Massif Central next year.

Where?

The Chateau d'Alleret is owned by an association that runs summer holiday camps for kids mainly from Paris and Marseilles. Batala Massif rehearses there in the summer, and for the past three years we've run percussion workshops as part of their holidays. Here's a link to their website, where you'll find photos of the whole site in a slide show (diaporama). I'm sure you'll agree it's a fantastic place for an encontro!


Getting here?

We'll do a pick up from the place that suits most people; at the moment this is likely to be based on y'all finding cheap flights to Paris and the train down to Brioude (20 minutes from Alleret) via Clermont-Ferrand. Otherwise maybe TGV from Paris to Lyon, although that's more expensive and about 2&1/2 hours drive away from Alleret. Let us know if you have other ideas.

What are we going to do?

We'll post a detailed programme ... in the meantime, here are the main elements:

• A choice of workshops including percussion, dance, choreography, to create an evening show.
• Outdoor activities will be available for those that want to try canoing or mountain-biking for example.
• For those interested in the youth work we've been doing, (or bringing their own young people with them), we'll be having a mini youth encontro, and involving them in the weekend.
• An outdoor rehearsal open to the public.
• A gig!
• And a Saturday night party with afro-latin music, both live and with top DJs, Juanito and Angus.
• Nothing is planned for the Sunday, apart from a lie-in and brunch. So have a blast Saturday!
  

Cost

We are working on grants and sponsorships to keep the cost down as far as possible. We'll know more by the end of the year and will give you at least a guide price then.

Accommodation and Meals

There are 90 - 120 bedspaces in the chateau and its annex. Once we have filled 100, (and we really hope to do that) we can also accommodate tents. More details nearer the time. By booking the chateau, we get the services of a chef (Marc) and staff for the meals. We plan to have at least one meal which is a collaboration between Marc and Willie!

And ...

For those who may want to come out for longer, (it's half term week), just let us know and we'll do what we can to make it happen. It's a fantastic place for a holiday.

Hallo !

Danke für euer Interesse für das “Rencontres Volcaniques”. Hier die letzten Informationen :

Wo ?

In einem “Schlösschen” (Chateau d’Alleret) in der Haute-Loire (Frankreich – Auvergne). An diesem Ort werden normalerweise von einem Verein « Le Petit Prince »Sommerfreizeiten für Kinder organisiert. Batala Massif probt dort im Sommer und bietet seit drei Jahren den Kindern Trommelkurse an.

Wie gelangt man dort hin?

Ihr könnt direkt zum Schloss mit Auto, Mini-Bus usw. gelangen. Für all diejenigen die mit dem Flugzeug kommen: wir organisieren euren Transport vom Flughafen Lyon. Der nächstgelegenste Bahnhof befindet sich in Brioude.

Was steht auf dem Program?

Ihr werdet später über das detaillierte Program informiert… hier schon mal ein kleiner Vorgeschmack:

· Donnerstag: Für alle die sich für unser Projekt mit Kindern und Jugendlichen interessieren, ein Mini-Encontro mit Trommelperformants auf Fässern und Eimern usw., Austausch zwischen den verschiedenen Gruppen, Auftritte werden organisiert.

· Freitag : verschiedene Percussion-Ateliers werden angeboten, unter anderem Tanz, Choreographie um den abendlichen Auftritt vorzubereiten, gefolgt von DJ Batala Agnus 45 RPM

· Freitag und Donnerstag : verschiedene Freizeitactivitäten stehen auf dem Programm (Kajak, Kanu, VTT, von Baum zu Baum Akrobatik, Eselwanderung …)

· Eine öffentliche Probe Samstagvormittag in Paulhaguet

· Ein Auftritt Samstagnachmittag in einer der Städte der Umgebung

· Samstagabend : ein Treffen mit anderen Musikgruppen (Musik Afro-Latine, DJ Batala Juanito …)

· Am Sonntag steht jedem frei das zu tun wozu er Lust hat (schlafen, wander, baden, Abreise)

Der Preis ?

Wir sind auf der Suche nach Sponsoren, um den Preis so gering wie möglich zu halten. Am Jahresende werden wir euch mehr sagen können.

Unterkunft und Verpflegung

Das Schloss bietet 90 bis 120 Schlafplätze und mehr falls nötig. Die Verpflegung wird vom Personal des Schlosses organisiert. Wir hoffen das wenigstens einmal einer der Batala Chefs für uns kochen wird!

Für diejenigen die ihren Aufenthalt verlängern wollen, sagt uns Bescheid, so können wir euch bei der Organisation helfen.

Salut !

Merci d’être venus voir les dernières infos pour « Rencontres Volcaniques ».

Où ?

Au Château d’Alleret dans le Haute-Loire en Auvergne. C’est une Association « Le Petit Prince » qui organise au Château les séjours d’été pour les enfants. Le Petit Prince accueille Batala Massif pour des répètes en été ; aussi, depuis trois ans, nous proposons des ateliers de percussion aux enfants. Voici le lien vers leur site web, ou vous trouverez des photos du site. Nous sommes convaincus que vous penserez aussi que c’est un super lieu pour notre encontro.

Comment y arriver ?

Vous pouvez arriver directement au Château en voiture, minibus, car etc. Pour ceux qui arrivent en avion à Paris, nous pensons faire un ramassage de Brioude. Par train vous arriverez facilement jusqu’à la, (via Clermont-Ferrand) ; Brioude est à 20mn d'Alleret.

Qu’est-ce qu’on va faire ?

Nous vous communiquerons un programme détaillé en temps voulu … en attendant, voici les éléments principaux :

· Jeudi. Pour ceux qui s’intéressent aux projets pour les jeunes, les nôtres ou les vôtres, nous aurons un mini-encontro avec les ateliers de percussion sur les bidons, échanges entre les groupes de jeunes et les prestations.

· Vendredi. Ateliers aux choix de percussion, danse, chorégraphie et autres pour créer une soirée spectacle le vendredi soir, suivi de DJ Batala Angus 45RPM ;

· Jeudi et vendredi, possibilité d’activités de pleine air : canoë, VTT, accrobranche, balades avec ou sans âne !

· Une répétition ouverte au public à Paulhaguet le samedi matin

· Une prestation dans une des villes principales le samedi après-midi

· Le samedi soir un échange autour de la musique afro-latine, avec d’autres groupes et DJ Batala Juanito.

· Le dimanche sera libre pour dormir, manger, nager, se balader et pour les départs.

Le cout ?

Nous cherchons des subventions et sponsors pour minimiser le cout. Nous aurons plus d’infos vers la fin de l’année.

Hébergement et repas

Il y a de 90 à 120 couchages au château et son annexe ; et d’autres possibilités si on est plus nombreux. Les repas seront fournis par le personnel du château, et on espère avoir au moins une fois un repas élaboré par nos chefs Batala.

Et …

Pour ceux qui veulent rallonger le séjour dans la région, (on pense au moins aux britanniques qui ont une semaine de vacances scolaires a cette époque), faites nous le savoir, et on fera notre possible pour vous trouver quelque chose.

Στο Νότινγκ Χιλ, τη Γουαδαλούπη ή κάπου αλλού, σίγουρα θα έχετε ακούσει για το επόμενο encontro στην Auvergne το 2011

«Πού είναι αυτό;» σας ακούω να ρωτάτε.

Μένει κανείς εκεί; Με τι ασχολούνται; Και τι τρώνε; Αυτές οι απορίες είναι εύλογες όταν ζει κανείς σε μοντέρνες και πολιτισμένες χώρες.

Η Auvergne λοιπόν είναι μια μεγάλη περιοχή στο κέντρο της Γαλλίας, προικισμένη με ηφαίστεια (προς το παρόν ανενεργά), στις πλαγιές των οποίων τριγυρνάνε ιθαγενείς που φορούν μπερέδες και τσόκαρα, κυνηγάνε αγελάδες ή πρόβατα κρατώντας ένα ραβδί στο δεξί χέρι και ένα ολόκληρο τυρί St Nectaire στο αριστερό.

Εξωτικό, έτσι;

Στη μέση όλης αυτής της δραστηριότητας, στο κέντρο ενός κρατήρα, θα βρείτε μία απίθανη ομάδα ανθρώπων που περνά όλα τα απογεύματα Κυριακής που έπλασε ο Θεός παίζοντας κρουστά: για να ξυπνήσει τα ηφαίστεια και να καταφέρει τους ντόπιους να χτυπήσουν τα τσόκαρά τους και να χορέψουν στο ρυθμό της samba-reggae.

Άφιξη Πέμπτη 2 Ιουνίου

Βάση μας είναι το Κάστρο στο Alleret, όπου θα κοιμηθούμε, στα δωμάτια ή σε σκηνές έξω, θα φάμε (σχεδόν) όλα τα γεύματά μας, θα απολαύσουμε την πισίνα, θα χαλαρώσουμε κάτω από τα ώριμα δέντρα και θα ακούσουμε τα πουλιά. Αν δεν κάνουμε πολλή φασαρία. Μόνο που δεν σκεφτόμαστε να είμαστε ήσυχοι!

Η μέρα είναι αφιερωμένη σε workshops για τους νέους και στις αφίξεις, και το πάρτυ για το πρώτο μας βράδυ μαζί είναι "Batala meets Batala”.

Παρασκευή 3 Ιουνίου

Μέρα ανεπίσημων workshops (συμπεριλαμβανόμενης της προετοιμασίας για τη συναυλία της Κυριακής), κρουστών, χορού, τραγουδιών. Επίσης, υπάρχουν και πολλές ευκαιρίες για δραστηριότητες στην ύπαιθρο: κανό, mountain bike, περίπατοι ή περιπέτειες στις κορφές των δέντρων. Και υπάρχει πάντα η πισίνα και το πάρκο για άραγμα και χαλάρωση.

Το βράδυ θα έχουμε μια μουσική συνάντηση με ντόπια afro/latin μουσικά συγκροτήματα και φίλους και θα παρουσιαστεί μια ειδική δημιουργία που βασίζεται στη μουσική των Batala, με φωτιές, ζογκλερικά, κλπ.

Σάββατο 4 Ιουνίου

Ύστερα από μια πρωινή πρόβα, θα κατευθυνθούμε σε μια κοντινή πόλη για φαγητό πριν καταλάβουμε τους δρόμους όπως μόνο οι Mundo Batala μπορούν.

Και εφόσον δεν έχουμε κανονίσει τίποτα για το πρωί της Κυριακής, το πάρτυ του Σαββατόβραδου είναι για ΝΑ ΤΑ ΣΠΑΣΟΥΜΕ!

Κυριακή 5 Ιουνίου

Και ύστερα, δροσεροί σαν τριαντάφυλλα, στο αργό πρωινό μας, μπορούμε να πάρουμε διακριτικά μια-δυο ασπιρίνες και να οργανώσουμε ομάδες διάσωσης για την αναζήτηση αυτών που καταστράφηκαν εντελώς, χάθηκαν ή απλώς παραστράτησαν, πριν βγάλουμε τα μαντήλια μας για τη λυπητερή στιγμή του αποχωρισμού... Σνιφ....

«Πώς φτάνουμε εκεί;»

Εύκολα! Οι περισσότεροι δρόμοι είναι ασφαλτοστρωμένοι, το χιόνι έχει λιώσει τον Ιούνιο (συνήθως) και υπάρχουν ακόμη και πινακίδες για όσους θέλουν να φτάσουν οδηγώντας. Αν φτάσετε αεροπορικώς, πετάξτε μέχρι Παρίσι και πάρτε το τρένο για Clermont-Ferrand ή πετάξτε απευθείας στο Clermont (με Flybe για παράδειγμα). Εκεί θα υπάρχει πούλμαν για να σας μεταφέρει στο Alleret. Καλύτερα να έχετε φτάσει πριν τις 15.00 για να απολαύσετε και την απογευματινή διασκέδαση. Θα υπάρχει πούλμαν επιστροφής στο Clermont την Κυριακή ανάλογα με τις ταξιδιωτικές σας ανάγκες. Ενημερώστε μας!

«Πόσο θα κοστίσει;»

Από τον αρχικό υπολογισμό στα 250 ευρώ, έχουμε τώρα κατέβει στα 200 ευρώ το πολύ (γιούπι!), το οποίο περιλαμβάνει: διαμονή, όλα τα γεύματα από το βράδυ της Πέμπτης μέχρι το πρωινό της Κυριακής, μπλουζάκι, πάρτυ και μεταφορικά. Μόνο τα ποτά και οι δραστηριότητες στην ύπαιθρο (κανό, κλπ.) θα χρεωθούν χώρια. Κάνουμε μεγάλες προσπάθειες για να μειώσουμε ακόμη περισσότερο τα έξοδα μέσα από χορηγίες και θα σας ειδοποιήσουμε για τις εξελίξεις μέσα στις επόμενες εβδομάδες, καθώς θα παίρνονται και οι αποφάσεις.

Πώς επικοινωνούμε;

Κρατήσεις!

Χρειαζόμαστε ένα άτομο από κάθε Batala να συντονίσει τα πράγματα στην άκρη σας και να είναι σε άμεση επικοινωνία με τον Huw για τις κρατήσεις. Τον Φλεβάρη θα υπάρχει ένα έντυπο για κρατήσεις και θα μπορείτε να εγγραφείτε μέχρι τα μέσα Απρίλη. Θα πρέπει να γίνει μία μόνο πληρωμή για κάθε ομάδα μέσω τραπεζικής κατάθεσης (όπως και για τη Γουαδαλούπη) μέχρι τις 30 Απρίλη.

Το έντυπο θα μας βοηθήσει να συλλέξουμε όλες τις απαραίτητες πληροφορίες ώστε να είναι το Encontro Vulcânico σας καταπληκτικό. Χορτοφάγοι; Κρεβάτι ή κατασκήνωση; Τι κρουστό; Κρατήσεις για κανό; Θα είναι όλα εκεί.

Encuentro volcánico 2 – 3 – 4 y 5 junio 2011 Auvergne – Francia

a todos los Batalas del mundo...

A Notting Hill, en Guadeloupe o en otros sitios, vosotros habéis seguramente oído hablar del prójimo Encuentro en Auvergne en el 2011.
Pero, vosotros me lo dirán: “Donde se encuentra el Auvergne?
Hay gente que vive alli? Que hacen ellos? Y que es lo que les gusta comer?”
Cuestiones legitimas cuando vivimos en sitios modernos y civilizados.
Bueno, Auvergne es uno grande territorio en el centro de Francia, estrellado de volcanes por lo momento adormecidos, sobres estas pendientes se destacan irreductibles autóctonos con típicas boinas (berets) y zapatos tipo saborts, corriendo detrás de vacas o ovejas, un bastón a la mano derecha y un St. Nectaire (queso típico de esta región) izquierda.

Exótico, no?

En el medio de esta actividad, se encuentra (en el centro de un cráter), un grupo formidable que pasa todas las tardes de domingo que Dios les dio, a golpear sus tambores.
Entonces a fin de despertar los volcanes, de hacer explotar los St. Nectaire ya hacer dansar los Auvergnates al ritmo del samba reggae.

Llegada el jueves 2 de junio

Nuestra base: el “castillo de Alleret” lo cual nos va a proveer en sus paredes o en sus campamentos situados en sus parques, las comidas, los baños en piscina, los grandes arboles el canto de los pájaros.
Esto se no hacemos demasiado ruido!
El quid, es que hemos previsto quedar en silencio...
El jueves lo dedicaremos a los trabajos, a los jóvenes batalas bidons y a nuestra fiesta de apertura.

“Cuando Batala encuentra Batala”

El viernes 3,
Nosotros os proponemos talleres de percusiones diversas ; danzas; cantos; actividades deportivas como piragüismo kayak, trayecto acrobático en bosque (accro-branche), ciclismo de montaña y caminatas; relajación alderredor de la piscina, un refresco a mano!
Por la noche, el sitio va a ser abierto a los músicos locales para un espectáculo sonidos y luces: “Cuando el Batala hace son espectáculo” y para compartir momentos musicales variados.
Música Batala pero no sólo esto... luces de proyectores pero no sólo esto, ritmos de percusiones pero no sólo esto...
El sábado 4, “Cuando Batala sale de son circo”
Después de de un ensayo matinal, nos reuniremos por la tarde en Brioude (ciudad auvergnat para una presentación-desfile.
Y encontraremos por la noche por la noche nuestro “rincón vacacional” para nuestra velada “Cuando Batala se suelta”!!!

Finalmente, el domingo 5,

Frescos como las rosas, podremos discretamente tragar unas aspirinas en medio mientras desayunamos, repescar los náufragos, poner en marcha las búsquedas a los extraviados y sacar nuestros pañuelos teniendo en cuenta nuestra inminente separación.

Exótico, no?

Pero me lo diréis vosotros: “Como vamos a ir a el Auvergne?

Muy fácil, las carreteras son todas asfaltadas, completamente libres de la nieve en el mes de junio y próvidas de paneles indicativos para aquellos que van a venir en vehículos, y para aquellos que desean venir en avión vía París o en tren, lo más sencillo es dirigirse a Clermont-Ferrand y en seguida nosotros nos encargaremos de ofrecer lanzaderas para las llegadas en grupo del jueves hasta las 15h, y para las salidas en grupo del domingo por la mañana (hacía la estación y el aeropuerto de Clermont-Ferrand).

Otra cuestión muy importante y legitima:
¿Cuánto cuesta?
Nosotros estimamos por el momento la instancia a 200€ por persona todo incluido: hospedaje, comidas, camiseta, vaso, talleres, veladas, lanzaderas y el canto de los pájaros (las actividades deportivas quedarán a cargo de los interesados).
Nosotros intentaremos bajar los costes con la ayuda de subvenciones, pero por el momento nosotros no hemos aún obtenido respuesta.
Es posible aún venir antes del 2 de junio y partir después del 5 de junio. Si los batalas interesados no son muy numerosos, nosotros podremos les recibir en los hogares de los lugareños o si el numero supera nuestras posibilidades, nosotros podremos ofreceros listas de alojamientos en casas rurales, casas de huéspedes, yurtas o camping.
Con el objetivo de organizar mejor vuestra instancia y nuestro encuentro, nosotros necesitaremos mantener contacto con informante de vuestro grupo que se encargara de mantenernos informados a los dos grupos (lo vuestro y lo nuestro).

Las inscripciones serán realizadas hasta el 15 de Abril
Un boletín de inscripción será enviado a lo largo de febrero, y por razones de organización , nosotros esperamos los pagos para el 1º mayo.
Aún por cuestiones de organización, nosotros necesitaremos, lo mas pronto posible, el numero de participantes y la opción de alojamiento de cada uno ( casas rurales, casas de huéspedes, yurtas o camping, etc., priorizando a las habitaciones para aquellos que vendrán de mas lejos). Vosotros podréis también informarnos de vuestros regímenes alimentarios – vegetarianos, que no comen cerdo o otra especificidad.
Es verdad que es menos exótico pero mas indispensable para un bueno desarrollo.
